Love & Other Words

February marks the month of love—and although I enjoy all types of genres, romance books are like no other. This month, dive into two of my favorite romantic comedies.

Love & Other Words by Christina Lauren

Follow Macy Sorenson, a new pediatrics resident, who is planning her wedding and getting a jump start on her life in San Francisco with her financially secure fiancé. When Macy bumps into her old best friend and her first love, Elliot Petropoulos, her life as she knows it starts to fade away. Love & Other Words is told through alternating timelines between now and then—when Macy and Elliot were teenagers falling in love—and shares how two adults, who are now strangers, though once the best of friends, fall into each other’s lives once again. (Also check out The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren—which takes place in Minnesota!)

The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas

Spanish writer Elena Armas’ debut novel, The Spanish Love Deception, follows Catalina Martín, a 20-something working at an engineering firm in New York City. Catalina’s sister, Isabel, is set to be married in Spain. There’s just one problem: Catalina has told her family that she has a thriving relationship with an American man—but he doesn’t actually exist. With just four weeks until the wedding, Catalina is trying to find someone to attend the wedding across the Atlantic Ocean with her—and Aaron Blackford, her handsome yet condescending colleague, offers to step up to the plate.
